In August, four people, including the building owner, were handed over to the prosecution on charges of failing to take proper safety measures in connection with the fire at a hotel in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, where seven people were killed.

The Bucheon Hotel Fire Investigation Headquarters of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency said yesterday (22nd) that it sent a man in his 60s and others into custody.

According to a police investigation, A, the owner of the building, took over the hotel in 2017 and replaced the air conditioner, and continued to use the existing wires without replacing the entire wiring.

In addition, the hotel manager was found to have arbitrarily turned off the alarm without confirmation, although the alarm went off immediately after the fire, and the hotel operator was found to have poorly prepared the fire plan without receiving any training related to fire safety.
