Hezbollah officially confirms next leader's death in Safiedin

Lebanon's pro-Iranian militant Hezbollah officially confirmed that Hashim Safiedin, a high-ranking official considered to be the next leader, was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

The announcement came a day after Israel said it killed Safiedin in an airstrike in a southern Beirut suburb on the 4th.

Safiedin, the Hezbollah executive chairman, was expected to succeed Hasan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader who was killed in an Israeli airstrike last month, but was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

Israeli airstrikes have killed many of Hezbollah's top leadership in the past few weeks.
