The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Culture Promotion Agency will hold the "Public Design Festival 2024" in more than 180 locations nationwide, mainly in Daejeon, from the 25th to the 3rd of next month.

At the opening ceremony to be held at 3 p.m. on the 25th at the Cositi in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, First Vice Minister Yong Ho-sung will present the "2024 Korea Public Design Awards," which has been upgraded to this year's Presidential Award.

This year, 14 best practices and 23 ideas were selected under the theme of Inclusion: Change for All.

The grand prize for the president will be awarded to "Omok Park Renovation" in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. It was highly praised for recreating the aging public facility, which was built in 1989, as an "art park with culture," such as sports facilities, art galleries, and children's play facilities.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award will be awarded to Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, for "Creating a Multisensory Life Garden for Senior Cognitive Health" in the best case category, "Trash Integrated Information Web Service, Mersey (Kim Hyun-ji, Bae Mi-ae)" in the idea category, and Yongin Special City in the local government category.

The ministry also selected Daejeon as a regional cooperation city to promote participation in public design in the region.

Daejeon is a city that leads the innovation of cutting-edge science and technology and a transportation center with a long history, and recently, it has attracted attention by implementing the first animal-friendly certification facility system in Daejeon.

Daejeon will hold the 'Public Design Debate', the central event of the festival, at the Daejeon Modern History Exhibition Hall on the 30th.

During the festival, public-private cooperation programs such as public design laboratories (Seoul, Bucheon, Daejeon), academic conferences (Seoul, Daejeon), and children's public design programs (Jeongeup, Bupyeong, Cheongju, etc.) linked to the "Miracle Library" will be held at more than 180 public design bases nationwide.

Details and information on advance reservations can be found on the official website (publicdesign.kr/festival) ).
