Over the past five years, the amount of illegal subsidies in the agricultural sector has been about 4.7 billion won, raising criticism that supplementary measures are urgently needed.

According to the data submitted by Chung Hee-yong, a member of the National Assembly's Agricultural and Marine Affairs Committee, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, 665 cases of illegal supply and demand in the agricultural sector were found from 2019 to last year, and the amount of illegal supply and demand was 4.7 billion won.

During the same period, the amount of redemption was 2.9 billion won, and the redemption rate was only about 61%.

In particular, lawmaker Chung pointed out that the number of illegal supply and demand increased from 130 in 2019 to 246 last year, and the amount of illegal supply and demand tripled during this period.

Lawmaker Chung urged the government to come up with measures such as strengthening monitoring, strong recovery measures, and imposing punitive fines, saying that illegal supply of subsidies is a crime that causes the government to lose public trust in the execution of the national budget and wastes taxpayers' money.
