This morning, the central inland temperature dropped significantly to around 5 degrees, bringing early winter-like weather.

Fortunately, the temperature has recovered in previous years from daytime.

The remaining month of autumn is mild, but December, when winter begins, is likely to have a cold wave from the beginning.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon reports.

Downtown Seoul,
with a strong chill
On my way to work in the morning, coat and hat muffler, padded coat and fur coat appeared.Looking at the

street landscape, it's already winter.

The morning temperature in Seoul was 7.1 degrees, the lowest this fall. Eunpyeong-gu was more than a month ahead of the season, with temperatures dropping to 3.6 degrees.

Bonghwa Mountain (Seokpo-myeon) in Gyeongsangbuk-do fell to minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, Imnam-myeon in Cheorwon fell to minus 4.2 degrees Celsius.

In addition, it was colder than usual across the country, including 2.7 degrees in Paju and 2.9 degrees in Geochang. (8.8 degrees in Gwangju, 7.6 degrees in Daegu)

The cold has eased since the day, but citizens are just anxious about the volatile weather this fall.

[Kim Yoona / Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul: (These days) I thought it was fall, but suddenly it got cold, so fall seems too short, and winter will come too soon.]

The Korea Meteorological Administration has released data on the weather forecast for the next three months.

In November, the rest of the fall was expected to be mainly affected by mobile high pressure, with higher temperatures and drier weather than usual.

However, in the midst of a large daily temperature difference, the temperature is expected to drop temporarily when the upper cold goes south, resulting in a large fluctuation in temperature.

In December, when winter begins, there is a possibility of a cold wave from the beginning.

Due to the influence of La Niña this winter and the reduced area of Arctic sea ice, strong cold weather is likely to move south to the mid-latitude area, which is predicted to be colder than usual, especially near Korea in early December.

[Park Mi-young / Climate Prediction Officer, Meteorological Administration: December will have cold, dry days due to periodic expansion of continental high pressure cold by Urals blocking due to La Niña impacts and less Arctic sea ice.]

However, the early winter cold wave is likely to not last long.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said temperatures will gradually turn upward from late December, and temperatures will likely be higher than usual in January, the coldest time of winter.

However, even in winter, there is a high possibility that weather with large temperature changes will continue like this fall, he said, asking people to prepare for unusual climate conditions.
