With Putin virtually admitting to North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia, there has been a sharp war of words between diplomats from the two Koreas at the United Nations.

When our side criticized us for pushing our soldiers to the battlefield of death, North Korea reacted sensitively, asking us not to call them North Korea.

On the 24th local time, the issue of North Korea's dispatch of troops was discussed at a UN General Assembly meeting on the subject of conventional arms disarmament.

The South Korean delegation insisted that Russia's military cooperation, including North Korea's arms trade, should be on the main agenda.

[Kwon Seong-hyuk / Secretariat of the South Korean mission to the United Nations] All illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia should be condemned. The violation of the international obligations of both countries should be stopped immediately.]

In response, North Korea denied sending troops to Russia and providing weapons, saying it was just a groundless rumor.

The North Korean delegation at the meeting claimed that it was nothing more than a scaremongering to damage the North's image.

[Lim Mu-Sung / Director General of North Korea's Foreign Ministry] It's just a groundless rumor trying to damage the image. It is undermining the legitimate and friendly partnership of sovereign states under the UN Charter.

The Korean delegation has launched a retrial.

He pointed out that President Putin did not deny the report of sending North Korean troops, but rather the country that sent it denied it.

[Kim Sung-hoon / Korean Mission to the United Nations] It is regrettable that the government, which sent soldiers to the battlefield of death, denies it. They are nothing short of forgotten and abandoned.]

North Korea also did not back down and responded to the second round.

However, he criticized South Korea by mentioning the issue of using the North Korean national name without specifically refuting the dispatch.

[Lim Moo-sung / Director General of North Korea's Foreign Ministry: I protest against calling us North Korea. It is shameful to mention peace and security without even knowing the member states.

The U.N. secretariat says it opposes the addition of military force from either side regarding North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia.

Earlier, the UN Security Council also stated that it is necessary to determine whether sanctions against North Korea are violated.
