The "Korea Society" was established in 1957 by former U.S. Army Commander James Van Fleet, who participated in the Korean War and took the lead in defending Seoul.

It plays a role in strengthening the Korea-U.S. alliance, cooperation, and promoting Korean culture.

South Jeolla Province Governor Kim Young-rok visited the "Korea Society" as his first visit to the U.S. and spoke on the theme of "Progress of the Korea-U.S. Alliance and Leap of Global South Jeolla Province."
