Department of Justice's 79th Anniversary of Correction Day celebration...Rewards for Distinguished Service in Correctional Administration

The Ministry of Justice held a ceremony today (28th) at the Gwacheon Civic Center Grand Theater in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do, to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Correctional Day and reward those who have served in the correctional administration.

The list of rewards included 43 people, including Lee Ki-hak, a correctional committee member at North Gyeongsang Province's 2nd Prison, and Kim Dong-hyun, head of the Daegu Regional Correction Agency.

The Ministry of Justice explained that it has paroled more than 900 exemplary prisoners at correctional institutions nationwide to reflect on the meaning of correction, correction, and rehabilitation.

Correction Day is a legal anniversary established to commemorate the restoration of correction work from the Japanese colonial rule and the start of independent correction administration.
