Among the new unification discourse "August 15 Unification Doctrine" announced by President Yoon Suk Yeol in his Liberation Day speech this year, a survey showed that "the establishment of an inter-Korean dialogue consultative body" is the top priority.

The Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification said in a third-quarter national unification poll that 39.9% of the people cited the "Inter-Korean Dialogue Council" as the top priority among the seven initiatives of the August 15 reunification Doctrine.

Humanitarian aid and activation of unification education programs to guarantee North Koreans' right to live followed with 27.5% and 20.8%, respectively.

In addition, 74.6% of the people said unification was necessary, up about 10 percentage points from the same period last year, citing the resolution of the war threat, economic development, and the restoration of national homogeneity.

The survey was conducted on a telephone interview of 1,000 adult men and women aged 19 or older nationwide from the 20th to the 22nd of last month, and the sample error is ±3.1 percentage points with a 95% confidence level.
