Typhoon 'Kongrey', the 21st typhoon heading north from the eastern Philippines, is expected to hit Taiwan this week and then weaken to a tropical depression.

Therefore, Korea is not expected to have a direct impact from typhoons.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said cold air has now moved south over the country, and there has been no case of typhoon affecting the Korean Peninsula in November in 73 years since 1951, when typhoon statistics were compiled.

However, the Korea Meteorological Administration cautioned that even if the typhoon weakens, waves will be high around the southern coast due to the remaining rain clouds later this week, and there is a possibility that the rain and wind will strengthen on Jeju Island and the southern coast.
