Due to the influx of smog from China overnight and the tangled thick fog, the concentration of ultrafine dust in some areas has risen to the "bad" level.

As the inflow of smog from China becomes more frequent in earnest, it is expected that more days will be required to wear masks in the future.

Reporter Kim Min-kyung's report.

The sky of Seoul from the 63rd building looks blurry as if a thin curtain has been drawn.

Yeongjong Bridge, which is covered with thick fog, even the outline of the road is faint.

As the temperature drops overnight, it is foggy, and smog from China has added to make the view more blurred.

[Yoon Jong-min / National Institute of Environmental Research's Integrated Air Quality Forecasting Center: On Sunday afternoon, normal levels of foreign fine dust flowed into the Midwest, including the metropolitan area, along with fog caused by stagnant air overnight, temporarily showing a "bad" level.]

At one point this morning, the concentration of ultrafine dust in Songrim-dong, Dong-gu, Incheon, soared to 78μg per cubic meter,
Nae-dong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do, rose to 71㎍ and Guro-gu, Seoul, also rose to 57㎍.

Air quality in most parts of the metropolitan area was restored as temperatures gradually rose and fog cleared, but

Incheon, the concentration of ultrafine dust was 'bad' until the afternoon, and Chungcheongnam-do also temporarily soared to 'bad' in the afternoon.

As the atmospheric congestion is resolved, the air is expected to be pleasant nationwide tomorrow.

However, climate experts define that the so-called fine dust season, in which the effects of smog from China are in full swing, has begun as we enter the cold season when fossil fuel use increases.

[Lee Jae-jeong / Kweather Forecast Team Leader: From this time of late autumn, smog from China starts to affect as it flows across the West Sea. In the future, days with high levels of ultrafine dust are expected to occur frequently until next spring.]

As there is a high possibility that the concentration of fine dust will become thicker, it is the way to keep your health to check the forecast often and wear a fine dust mask on days when air quality is poor.
