At least 95 people have died in Spain's worst floods in more than three decades.

The number of victims is expected to increase further as many people are missing after being swept away by the torrent.

The Spanish government declared a three-day period of national mourning until the 2nd of next month.

The whole city was flooded with ochre mud.

Roads are interspersed with uprooted trees and broken vehicles,
People who had been trapped overnight in the rubble of a collapsed building are rescued.

[Denis Hlavati / Flood survivor: The door was ripped out and I spent the night surrounded by 2m deep water. With the entire gas station submerged, it held out on the only remaining shelf.

[Maria Ramirez / Resident: It was horrible, horrible. A man clung to the fence and asked for help, but he couldn't do anything until a helicopter came and rescued him.]

All-time heavy rains led to massive casualties,

The number of victims is expected to rise further, especially as a large number of people have been swept away by the torrent.

Heavy rains blocked railways, highways, and skyways, and cut off electricity.

The city of Valencia ordered all schools to close.

The Spanish government declared a three-day period of national mourning until the 2nd of next month, and neighboring countries also offered support.

Meteorological experts analyzed that the downpour was caused by a cold front across southeastern Spain meeting with warm and humid air rising from the Mediterranean Sea.
