Police said, "36-week fetuses secure survival clues before and after childbirth."

Regarding the so-called "36-week abortion" allegations, police said they have secured clues that the fetus was alive at the time of the birth and died after being left unattended without proper medical measures.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Unit said that the mother A had already been treated at two hospitals in the province after entering her 36th week of pregnancy, and secured medical records containing that the fetus was healthy at the time.

He also explained that when comprehensively reviewing the analysis of hospital seizures, medical staff statements, and medical evaluations, it is judged that the fetus was alive before and after childbirth.

Police said they had to take necessary measures to maintain the fetus' body temperature and breathing immediately after giving birth and evaluate its health, but it was confirmed that there was no medical treatment, and as a result, the fetus appeared to have died.

Police are also looking into other cases of abortion arrangements and cremation related to the hospital.
