At the U.N. Security Council meeting on the war in Ukraine, the U.S. disclosed information that 8,000 North Korean soldiers had arrived at the border.

While the North Korean military is expected to be in combat in the coming days, Russia did not respond when asked if it still denies sending North Korean troops.

By the end of the U.N. Security Council meeting, the U.S. representative, who had already spoken, had applied for the floor again.

[Robert Wood / U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations] This information came in just a few minutes ago. Currently, 8,000 North Korean soldiers are in Kursk, Russia (the border of Ukraine).

The ambassador pointed to Russia and asked bluntly.

[Robert Wood / U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations] Is Russia still in the position that there are no North Korean troops in Russia? This is my question.]

Attention was drawn to what the answer would be, but the Russian representative did not answer.

The 8,000 people revealed by the United States this time are close to double the 4,500 previously identified by Ukraine.

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken estimated that the total number of North Korean troops dispatched to the country amounts to 10,000.

[Tony Blinken / U.S. Secretary of State]: The North Korean military does not appear to be in combat yet, but we expect it to be deployed in the coming days.]

As Russia is training North Korean troops in artillery, drone operations, and infantry operations, it is believed that the intention to deploy combat is clear.

However, the U.S. predicted that there would be no problem with Ukraine's occupation of Kursk because it is not large in terms of the total number of people.

Regarding North Korea's dispatch of troops, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said in an interview with KBS that the West has virtually let go and called for a firm response.

Russian President Putin claims that he will ask for additional troops after seeing the Western reaction.

In addition, North Korea expected to send a large number of workers to Russia to work at drone factories, following soldiers.
