Former National Assembly Member Kim Young-sik Appointed New Chairman of the National Science and Technology Research Council

Honorary Professor Kim Young-sik of the National Kumoh Institute of Technology has been appointed as the 5th chairman of the National Science and Technology Research Association (NST).After graduating from Yeungnam University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Kim received a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Iowa University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering at Pennsylvania State University, and served as a senior researcher at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, a professor at Kumoh University of Technology, and a director of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Agency.

In addition, he served as the 6th president of Kumoh University of Technology from 2013 to 2017, and as the 21st member of the National Assembly, he served as the secretary of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting, and Communication Committee.

Chairman Kim's term will be three years from November 4th.

The National Science and Technology Research Association was launched in 2014 and supports and fosters 23 government-funded research institutes in the field of science and technology.
