Police seek arrest warrant for military officer for 'damaging body of Bukhangang River'

An arrest warrant has been filed for a guard-level officer in his 30s who damaged and abandoned the body after killing a military officer belonging to the same unit.

The Gangwon Police Agency applied for an arrest warrant for a unit officer from the Ministry of National Defense on charges of murder, body damage, and concealment at 9:20 p.m. yesterday (4th).

A, who is scheduled to be promoted to lieutenant colonel, is accused of strangling a 33-year-old military officer B, who was working in the same unit, in a car on the afternoon of the 25th of last month, damaging the body, and dumping it around the Bukhangang River in Hwacheon, Gangwon-do the next day.

According to the investigation, A stated that he accidentally killed B during an argument, and the police are considering holding a committee to disclose his/her identity while revealing his/her motive after arrest.

The interrogation of the suspect before his arrest will be held at Chuncheon District Court as early as tomorrow (5th).
