Spain provides 16 trillion won in emergency aid to areas of surprise downpours.

The Spanish government has decided to provide 10.6 billion euros and about 16 trillion won in our money for areas affected by sudden heavy rains.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced the support plan on the 5th local time, French daily Le Monde said.

Sanchez explained that the emergency aid will help 65,000 self-employed people and 30,000 businesses.

It also decided to provide loans worth 5 billion euros and 7.5 trillion won for small businesses, self-employed people and private households.

Prime Minister Sanchez also said he has deployed a total of 15,000 people, including soldiers and police, to search and recover missing people in flood-stricken areas.

In southeastern Spain, a huge amount of rain fell in a short period of time on the 29th of last month, flooding everywhere and sweeping away a large number of vehicles.

As of 6 p.m. on the 5th, the death toll from the heavy flood was 219.
