Former representative of 'Rescue Animal Euthanasia' Care received 2nd trial of imprisonment, suspended sentence commuted.

Park So-yeon, former CEO of the animal rights group Care, who was sentenced to prison in the first trial for euthanizing rescued animals, was commuted at the appeal trial.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down two years in prison and four years of probation, breaking the original court that sentenced Park to two years in prison in an appeal trial for violating the Animal Protection Act.

The court was found to have reduced the sentence in consideration of equity, given that Park admitted all related charges, including violations of the Animal Protection Act, and that she was not tried separately for obstructing the execution of special public affairs.

After the sentence, Park thanked the court for giving him the opportunity to operate on the spot.I realized the limitation that I could not save all of the animals that were suffering seriously, and said I would develop a different form of exercise in the future.

Park was put on trial from 2015 to 2018 on charges of euthanizing 98 animals to secure space for animal shelters and reduce treatment costs.

Separately, a two-year prison term and a three-year suspended sentence were confirmed in August on charges of obstructing the police officer's execution of official duties, demanding sanctions on illegal dog slaughterhouses in front of Chuncheon City Hall.
