An aide to U.S. President-elect Trump's presidential campaign said the next government's goal is peace, not restoration of Ukraine's territory.
The transition team has drawn a line that it is not an official position, but Trump's position, which is negative about supporting Ukraine, is expected to be revealed as a specific policy soon.

Brian Lanza, Trump's aide in the presidential campaign, has spoken out about the war in Ukraine. The next government will demand a realistic peace plan from Ukraine, not a victory,
said in an interview with the BBC.
In particular, if the return of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia a decade ago, is a pre-war condition, Crimea is already over.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has repeatedly insisted that the return of all Russian-occupied territories, including Crimea, is a condition of the end of the war.
In response to the remarks, Trump's transition spokesman drew a line that Lanza does not represent the president-elect at the moment.
But throughout the presidential campaign, Trump has been negative about supporting Ukraine, saying the war should be ended quickly.
[Donald Trump / then presidential candidate (last September): The United States gave Zelensky money and ammunition for an unprecedented time. Zelensky took 60 billion dollars every time he came to our country.]
Europe and Ukraine are in a hurry to prepare for Trump's second term.
During a visit to Ukraine, Borrell, the EU's top foreign affairs and security representative, said Biden still has two months left in his term and stressed quick support.
[Hosef Borrell / EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security] We need to support more, faster. We need to provide more military support, training, and funding and disseminate it faster. We should also allow enemy attacks in Russian territory.]
Ukraine said it would cooperate with President-elect Trump, but made clear the principle that occupied territories should be returned.
[Andri Sibihar / Ukrainian Foreign Minister] It is very important not to confuse meaning. We're talking about "just peace," not "liberal policy."
Russian Vice Foreign Minister Ryabkov said he was ready to hear Trump's opinion, but cautioned against optimistic prospects, saying there would be no simple solution.
