Former lawmaker Yoon Mi-hyang was found guilty of embezzling donations by the Supreme Court.
Former lawmaker Yoon Mi-hyang, who was accused of embezzling donations for victims of Japanese military Japanese Military Sexual Slavery, has been sentenced to probation.

The Supreme Court today (14th) confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced former lawmaker Yoon, who was indicted on charges of embezzlement and other charges, to one and a half years in prison and three years of probation.

The Supreme Court explained that the judgment of the court below did not deviate from the limits of liberalism or misunderstand the law.

Former lawmaker Yoon has been charged with using the account funds of the Justice Memory Solidarity Corporation for more than a decade since 2011 or receiving subsidies from local governments in an illegal way.

In February last year, the first trial recognized 17 million won, which has not been proven, as embezzlement, and sentenced former lawmaker Yoon to a fine of 15 million won.

However, in September of the same year, the appeals court recognized 80 million won as embezzlement for work and sentenced him to one and a half years in prison and three years of probation.

Under the Public Official Election Act, elected officials will be invalidated if they are sentenced to imprisonment or higher, and former lawmaker Yoon finished his term as a member of the National Assembly before the Supreme Court ruling came out.
