At dawn today (15th), two earthquakes of magnitude 2.0 or higher occurred in the waters of Jeju Island.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said an additional 2.0 magnitude earthquake occurred around 4:21 a.m. in waters 80 kilometers northeast of Ieodo, Seogwipo City, after a 2.1 magnitude earthquake struck 130 kilometers west of Jeju at around midnight today.
The depth of the two earthquakes is as shallow as 9 to 13 kilometers, but it is far from Jeju Island, so most people did not feel it, and only the seismograph detected a weak vibration of magnitude 1.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said there was no damage from the earthquake.
Including this earthquake, there have been five earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.0 or higher in Jeju's waters this month alone, and 11 this year alone.
