A motion to arrest Shin Young-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was requested for an arrest warrant on charges of manipulating public opinion and accepting bribes in the general election, was reported to the National Assembly plenary session today (14th).
The vote on lawmaker Shin's arrest is expected to take place on the 28th, when the next plenary session is scheduled.
Current lawmakers are not arrested or detained without the consent of the National Assembly during the session, and the court can proceed with the warrant review only when the motion to arrest Shin is passed by the National Assembly.
Earlier, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant, believing that lawmaker Shin received bribes to resolve complaints about the solar power business and was involved in manipulating public opinion in the party's primary process ahead of the 22nd general election.
