German politicians have entered legal proceedings to dissolve the far-right Alternative Party, local media said.

According to ZDF broadcasters and others, Marco Vanderwitz, a member of the center-right Christian Democratic Party, submitted a resolution to ban the activities of the German Alternative Party to the chairman of the Federal Assembly, signed by 113 people.

In Germany, the dissolution of a political party can be claimed by the Federal Parliament, the Senate, or the federal government, and if the majority agrees in the Federal Parliament, the Constitutional Court will hear whether to dissolve it.

In the meantime, the German Federal Assembly is expected to be dissolved next month due to an early general election agreement between the ruling and opposition parties, so it will not be easy in reality to deal with the dissolution bill.

In Germany, there was public opinion in January this year that the party should be dissolved after politicians from the Alternative Party were found to have participated in a far-right group discussing mass deportation of immigrants.

However, it is difficult to prove that the alternative party broke the constitution at the central party level, and there is a possibility that the Constitutional Court will dismiss the request for dissolution.
