As Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said he would appeal the results of the first trial of the violation of the Public Official Election Act, which was sentenced to prison, attention is now focused on the higher court.

The key is whether the results of the first trial, which will deprive the right to run for election, will remain the same until the Supreme Court's final ruling, and whether the timing will be earlier than the next presidential election.

In principle, the current Public Official Election Act stipulates that the trial of the election law case should be completed within six months, and the second and third trials should be completed within three months, respectively.

Although Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae recently emphasized the rule himself, it is not easy to say whether the 2nd and 3rd trials of the violation of the Lee Jae-myung Public Official Election Act of the Democratic Party of Korea will be completed in six months as recommended.

First of all, it took two years and two months for the first trial to conclude with one year in prison and two years of probation.

The prosecution's investigation records alone were more than 50 witnesses, and the National Assembly schedule and the resignation of the presiding judge were constantly variable.
