background
The Wall Street Journal reported on the 15th local time that Iran sent a confirmation letter to the Joe Biden administration saying it would not kill former President Donald Trump 20 days before the U.S. presidential election.

Iran's letter was delivered on the 14th of last month when the presidential election was in full swing and was in response to the U.S. government's written warning that it would consider it an act of war if it hurt former President Trump.Neither U.S. officials nor Trump's camp officials have said whether

delivered the confirmation to Trump, the Wall Street Journal said.

There was no signature on the letter, and accusations that former President Trump ordered the killing of Quds, commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, Gaseem Soleimani, during his tenure were repeated.

Iran has continued to vow revenge after losing national hero Soleimani in a U.S.-targeted airstrike in January 2020 during the first Trump administration.

Last week, the U.S. Justice Department said Iranian agents had planned an assassination of former President Trump before his reelection, and that Iran's attempts were continuing.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi recently dismissed the U.S. claim as a "third-rate comedy."
