As the burden of living expenses increases amid high prices and high interest rates, 54.8% of single-person households, more than half of young adults, engage in side jobs, the survey showed.

KB Financial Group's Management Research Institute surveyed 2,000 single-person households between the ages of 25 and 59 who live in the city and engage in independent economic activities.

The proportion of people on the side increased by 12.8 percentage points compared to 42 percent two years ago.

As for the type of sideline, 42.1% of the so-called app techs watched advertisements through applications, performed tasks, and got rewards, followed by 6.2% for social creators and bloggers, and 3.8% for part-time service jobs.

Single-person households answered that they eat 1.8 meals a day on average, down significantly from 2.2 meals two years ago.

The average annual income of the survey was 37.8 million won, with 16.2% of the monthly income, down 3.9% from two years ago.

The loan holding ratio was 54.9%, up 7.2 percentage points from two years ago, but the loan balance decreased from 99 million won to 78 million won.

45.1% of single-person households lived on monthly rent, 30% of lease on a deposit basis, and 21.8% of people lived in their own homes.

More than half of the households worked on the side, reducing their spare money, but 71.2 percent of single-person households said they were "satisfied with single life," up from 68.2 percent two years ago.

The satisfaction rate of women in their 20s and 30s was the highest, followed by women in their 40s and 50s, men in their 20s and 30s, and men in their 40s and 50s.
