Patriot Oh Hee-ok, the only living patriot, passed away yesterday (17th) at the age of 98.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said Governor Oh died yesterday afternoon while being hospitalized at the Seoul Central Veterans Hospital due to chronic illness.
Governor Oh was the only surviving female patriot after independence activist Min Young-joo died in 2021.
Born into a family of three generations devoted to the independence movement, Governor Oh carried out anti-Japanese activities such as collecting Japanese military information and recruiting operatives until he was incorporated into the 5th District of the Liberation Army in January 1941, and later served as a member of the Korean Independence Party.
As the government supports the head of the society if the patriot dies from this year, Governor Oh's funeral ceremony will be held at the Seoul National Cemetery after the ceremony on the 20th.
