Ministry of Justice Submits Part of Special Expense to National Assembly for 'Crisis of Total Cuts'

The Ministry of Justice submitted some of the evidence to the National Assembly after the National Assembly cut the prosecution's budget for certain work expenses for next year, saying it would not release details of spending.

The Ministry of Justice was found to have recently submitted to the National Assembly the details of special expenses expenditures by six prosecutors' offices, including the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, in August last year.

The submitted evidence reportedly shows account payment records for prosecutors and prosecution investigators, as well as the date, location and amount of special expenses used.

An official from the Ministry of Justice said, "As it takes time to collect the entire data, we discussed with the National Assembly and submitted only one month first," adding, "If there is a request from the National Assembly, we will also submit records of use for other periods."

Earlier, on the 8th, the National Assembly Judiciary Committee voted on next year's budget plan to cut the prosecution's special expenses of 50.6 billion won and special activities of 8 billion won on the grounds that the Ministry of Justice does not submit its usage details to the National Assembly.
