Andong Mayor and Yecheon-gun County Governor Announce Joint Statement Against Administrative Integration

Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang of North Gyeongsang Province and Yecheon-gun County Governor Kim Hak-dong issued a joint statement today (18th) ahead of a briefing session for residents in the northern region of administrative integration in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province and called for an immediate end to the integration process.

They criticized that administrative integration would lead to the extinction of the northern part of North Gyeongsang Province and undermine the identity of North Gyeongsang Province, and that it undermines democratic principles by not even collecting residents' opinions.

Andong and Yecheon have formed anti-unification promotion committees, continuing to speak out against the administrative integration work of Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do.
