Escalator fire at Dongdaemun Station on line 4...a non-stop passage

A fire broke out at 9:40 p.m. today (18th) at an escalator inside Dongdaemun Station on Seoul Subway Line No. 4 in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Due to a lot of smoke, users were rushed to evacuate, and four of them were found to have returned home after receiving treatment at the scene.

In addition, all the up and down trains on Line 4 pass through Dongdaemun Station without stopping.

In a call with YTN, visitors at the scene explained the situation at the time that they were rushed out of the ticket gate due to a lot of smoke in the station.

Fire authorities extinguished the large blaze at 10:05 p.m., and in history, ventilation systems are being activated to drain smoke.
