It has been reported that Japan has emerged as a new "gender tourism hub" in Asia.

On the 16th (local time), Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) said in an article titled "Tokyo, Asia's new sex tourism capital," that many foreigners are going sightseeing in Japan due to the recent weakening of the yen and increasing poverty in Japan.

He added that young women are increasingly waiting for customers before sunset, especially in Tokyo's parks.

The media introduced the case of Lua (a pseudonym), a 19-year-old woman engaged in illegal prostitution in Tokyo, who said, "I left my house in February and came to Kabuki-cho to find a cafe job, and I started coming to the park in April because I owed money to my host."

"I usually get five men a day, but it's twice as many on weekends," he said. "There are various men coming to the park, but about half of them are foreigners. There is one British person and regulars from Taiwan, China and Hong Kong," he added.

The SCMP said there was also a surge in violent incidents, with an angry man suddenly using violence while haggling over prices.

The Youth Protection Liaison Council, a Japanese youth protection organization, said in an interview with the media, "The foreign men who come to Japan for sex tourism are diverse, including white, Asian, and black, but most of them are Chinese."
