NYSE closes mixed on fallout from Russia's 'nuclear card'

The New York Stock Exchange's top three stock indexes closed mixed.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones 30 Industrial Average closed at 43,268.94, down 120.66 points or 0.28% from the previous session.The

Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at 18,987.47, up 23.36 points and 0.4% from the previous session at 5,916.98, and the Nasdaq Composite index closed at 18,987.47, up 195.66 points and 1.04% from the previous session.

Major European stock indexes plunged more than 1% as tensions rose over the war in Ukraine, and U.S. stock index futures also fell more than 1% in line.

Since then, the stock index has rebounded sharply as the U.S. and Russia have refrained from escalating, but analysts say that the anxiety surrounding the Ukraine war will continue to weigh on the stock market.
