President Joe Biden's Middle East envoy, Amos Hochstein, a senior White House adviser, will travel to Israel after his visit to Lebanon to continue discussions on a ceasefire, Reuters reported.

After meeting with Lebanese Parliament President Navi Berry, who is negotiating a ceasefire on behalf of Hezbollah, Hochstein said further progress had been made in negotiations and that he would soon travel to Israel.

Hochstein said he would work with the new administration on a change in the U.S. government next January, adding that we are already discussing the issue and that the new administration is well aware of what we are doing.

Lebanese authorities and Hezbollah are generally positive about the cease-fire negotiations proposed by the United States, but they say they should not include phrases related to Israel's exercise of self-defense in the agreement.

While Israel has not given an official opinion on the cease-fire, Hochstein is expected to visit Israel and meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
