The Japanese government said Akiko Ikuina, a foreign ministry official, will attend the Sado mine memorial ceremony on the 24th.

Political officers are equivalent to the level of vice ministers in our country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that Ikuina will visit Sado City to attend the memorial service and inspect the Sado mine.

On the Korean side, Korean Ambassador to Japan Park Chul-hee is known to attend.

Ikuina, who was first elected as a member of the upper house in 2022, was appointed as a foreign minister in the second cabinet of Shigeru Ishiba, which was launched this month.

On August 15, 2022, shortly after his election as a lawmaker, Ikuina also visited Yasukuni shrine, where Class A war criminals from the Pacific War were merged, on the day of Japan's defeat.
