New hires in their 10s and 20s, at least since 2018's tally...Reducing the Recruitment of 'Manufacturing, Wholesale, and Retail'

In the second quarter of this year, new hiring of wage-earning jobs for teenagers and young people in their 20s was the lowest since related statistics were compiled.

According to the National Statistical Portal of Statistics Korea, 1.454 million new jobs were hired in the second quarter of this year, down 136,000 from the same period last year.

This is the lowest number since related statistics were compiled in 2018.

The number of new hires under 20s in the manufacturing industry, which is considered a quality job, fell from 278,000 in the second quarter of last year to 256,000 in the second quarter of this year.

The number of wholesale and retail businesses directly connected to domestic demand fell from 221,000 to 206,000, the lowest ever.
