Ahead of the start of winter, the weather is on alert this week.

Rain with strong winds is expected to fall across the country from night, and heavy rain of up to 100mm has been predicted on Jeju Island.

From tomorrow night, the rain will turn into the first snow in many parts of the country, and it is expected to accumulate around 10cm.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon's report.

With winter just around the corner, the weather is emergency again.

Rain clouds are expected to affect the country by tomorrow due to low pressure from the west.
Rain was predicted to be up to 100mm on Jeju Island, 60mm on the southern coast, and up to 40mm in the metropolitan area.

The rain at the end of November is quite a lot.

Strong winds accompany the sea and inland, and fallen leaves accumulated on the road block the drain, which can cause flooding damage, so caution is needed.

[KIM YOUNG JUN / Forecaster of the Korea Meteorological Administration: Winds are expected to become very strong in most parts of the country from the 26th]

After the rain cloud escapes, the cold air will descend south and the temperature will drop significantly, and snow clouds will develop in inland areas such as the metropolitan area, not rain clouds.

By Wednesday, the Korea Meteorological Administration had forecast up to 15 centimeters of snow in Gangwon Province, up to 10 centimeters in northeastern Gyeonggi Province and inland from Honam, and 1 to 5 centimeters in Seoul and southwest inland from Incheon.

It's a lot like a heavy snow warning.

The snow is expected to start in the central region, including the metropolitan area, late at night or early the day after tomorrow, raising concerns about inconvenience caused by the snow on the way to work.

The Korea Meteorological Administration warned that the "first snow" ahead of the start of winter could lead to heavy snowfall on the road.

[Woo Jin-gyu / YTN Disaster Advisory Committee / Meteorological Administration Information Officer: The rain is likely to turn into snow as the temperature is gradually decreasing. As a result, the first snow is expected to be mainly in the central part of Korea, including Seoul, and places with low temperatures, and that the first snow is a part that can accumulate rather than a generally weak sleet or something like this..]

The weather is expected to get colder by the end of the week, with snow potentially falling in the capital and other inland areas by Thursday morning, the agency said.

In particular, Chungcheong and Honam regions are expected to have long snow until the second half of the week, so thorough preparations are needed.
