U.S. President Joe Biden plans to attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January next year, the White House says.
"President Biden has promised to attend the inauguration, no matter who wins the presidential election," said Andrew Bates, deputy White House spokesman.
Trump, who previously claimed the 2020 presidential election was rigged, did not attend Biden's inauguration on January 20, 2021.
Bates said Trump's transition team has yet to sign a memorandum of understanding with the White House and the Federal General Administration to receive government support, explaining that they are still in talks with the transition team.
Brett McGurk, the Middle East envoy, will then travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to use negotiations on a potential cease-fire in Lebanon as a catalyst for a cease-fire in Gaza and repatriation of hostages, Bates said.
