Israel is continuing airstrikes in Lebanon amid speculation that a ceasefire deal between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah is imminent.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it had attacked 30 targets in southern Lebanon since this morning (26th) local time.

He added that the targets of the airstrike were terrorist infrastructure, armory, and command that targeted Israel.

Reuters said explosions were heard in the capital Beirut today, while AFP quoted an unnamed Lebanese security official as saying Israeli forces had struck central Beirut.

The Israeli security cabinet is expected to meet at the military headquarters today at 5:30 p.m. local time and decide whether to agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon.

The cease-fire proposed by the U.S. to Israel and Hezbollah included a 60-day temporary cease-fire in which Israeli forces withdrew from southern Lebanon and Hezbollah retreated north of the Ritani River.
