An obstetrician and gynecologist accused of conspiring to commit crimes with his biological mother in connection with the Cheongju "murder of a disabled infant" has escaped arrest.

The Cheongju District Court rejected an arrest warrant filed yesterday (26th) for A, a gynecologist in his 60s who is suspected of murder.

The court explained that it is difficult to admit that A may run away, and that the evidence is already secured, so there is no fear of eliminating it.

He added that he also considered the fact that the prosecution dismissed the arrest warrant requested by the police for the father of the victim because there was no fear of fleeing and destroying evidence.

A is suspected of killing a week-old child with a mother in her 30s, B and her wife, who were her patients, at a postpartum care center in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, on the 10th of last month.

The police believe that they conspired to commit the crime based on the telephone recordings A had with the parents of the victim, but A is said to have strongly denied the charges.

Earlier, mother B was arrested on murder charges, and B's husband is being investigated without detention considering that he has to support other children.
