Jang Je-guk, president of Dongseo University, was fined for violating the Private School Act.

The fine has been confirmed for Jang Je-guk, president of Dongseo University, who was accused of using tuition fees paid by students to operate external institutions.

On the 31st of last month, the Supreme Court confirmed the lower court that sentenced President Jang, who was handed over to trial on charges of violating the Private School Act, to a fine of 20 million won.

The Supreme Court explained that the lower court did not do anything wrong to influence the ruling by misunderstanding related laws without completing the hearing.

President Jang was charged with transferring the operating expenses of senior welfare centers and youth counseling welfare centers from the school expenses accounting.

Under the Private School Act, property or profits belonging to school expenses accounting cannot be used or rented for other accounts.

Earlier, the first trial acquitted President Jang, but the appeals court fined him, saying it was difficult to see the cost of operating welfare facilities as an expense necessary for school education.
