Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok said the next six months will be the golden time to determine the fate of our industry.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi made the remarks at a meeting of related ministers to strengthen industrial competitiveness held at the Korea Semiconductor Industry Consultation in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, today, saying that the pace of headwinds is gradually increasing.

Choi said the government will now become a player running with companies, not a supporter from behind, given the case of major countries where the country is at the forefront of industrial competition, and that industrial policy will also be approached from a new perspective.

Citing the reality that major countries are engaged in unprecedented all-out wars, including subsidies, to take the lead in high-tech industries, Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, "We will correct the tilted playground by mobilizing all available means and fully supporting them beyond the existing policy measures."

He stressed that uncertainties, including reducing incentives for the Inflation Reduction Act, should also be eased, and that the government will operate intergovernmental cooperation channels in all directions to quickly and accurately convey the voices of Korean companies and minimize the impact of changes in industrial policies in major countries.
