The presidential office is preparing emergency countermeasures against U.S. President-elect Trump's tariff bomb policy.

An official from the presidential office said an emergency meeting will be held this afternoon under the chairmanship of the policy chief in response to Trump's decision to impose 25% and high tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

He then explained that as he also announced a policy to impose 10% tariffs on China, it is aimed at preparing measures for Korean companies exporting to the United States among Korean companies in these countries.

He also predicted that even though the U.S. has a trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, which is a kind of free trade agreement, discussions could take place on the variables of trade between South Korea and the U.S., just as the U.S. predicted a tariff bomb.

Earlier in a social media post, Trump said he would impose 25% tariffs on products coming to the United States from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tariffs on Chinese products.
