The court ruling that sentenced Kim In-seop, former CEO of Korea Housing Technology, to prison, who was pointed out as a "grand lobbyist" in Baekhyun-dong's alleged development preferential treatment, has been confirmed.

The Supreme Court today (28th) confirmed the lower court's ruling, which sentenced Kim, who was indicted on charges of meddling under the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act, to five years in prison and an additional 6.357 billion won.

The Supreme Court ruled that there was no fault in the judgment of the court below that it did not deviate from the limits of free evaluationism or misunderstood the legal principles such as the crime of mediating.

Earlier, since 2015, Kim has been put on trial on charges of receiving 7.7 billion won in cash and receiving 500 million won worth of construction site restaurant business rights from former Asian developer Chung Baul in exchange for arranging licenses for Baekhyun-dong development projects.

The courts of the first and second trials recognized Kim's rental work performed at the request of former chairman Chung in the Baekhyun-dong project as an act of mediation and sentenced him to five years in prison.

Kim appealed against this, but the Supreme Court's judgment was the same.
