A man in his 40s who hurt his girlfriend by beating her with a blunt instrument for talking in her sleep he didn't want to hear was sentenced to five years in prison.

The Jeju District Court's Criminal Division 2 announced on the 28th that it sentenced A, in his 40s, to five years in prison on charges of attempted murder.

Mr. A is accused of hitting his girlfriend's head several times and imprisoning her for about three hours at a residence in Jeju City at around 5 a.m. on July 10 for saying things he didn't want to hear in his sleep.

A girlfriend with a head injury said she wanted to receive hospital treatment, but A took her cell phone and imprisoned her for three hours.

Later, he falsely reported to 119 that "a girlfriend fell on the first floor and injured her head."

The victim, who suffered a severe head injury due to A's crime, underwent suturing surgery and is still undergoing outpatient treatment.
