Last month, Korea's exports increased, continuing their upward trend for 14 consecutive months.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said exports amounted to $56.4 billion last month, up 1.4% from the same month last year.

Semiconductor exports, in particular, rose 31% from last year to $12.5 billion, the highest ever recorded as of November.

By November this year, cumulative semiconductor exports amounted to $127.4 billion, the highest ever.

On the other hand, auto exports fell 14% to $5.6 billion from last year due to strikes by major parts makers and delays in shipments due to worsening weather conditions.

In addition, exports to China fell 0.6% and exports to the U.S. fell 5.1% last month, leading to a decline in both major export markets.

Last month's imports fell 2.4% from last year to $50.7 billion, with the trade balance surplus of $5.6 billion.

The monthly trade balance has been in the black for 18 consecutive months since June last year.
