Clothing's share of consumer spending fell to the lowest level ever in the third quarter as demand for autumn clothes fell due to sluggish domestic demand and late heat.

According to the National Statistical Portal of the National Statistical Office and the Household Trend Survey, the average monthly consumption expenditure per household in the third quarter was 2,907,000 won.

Out of these, clothing and footwear expenditures amounted to 114,000 won, accounting for 3.9% of the total consumption expenditure.

As high interest rates and high prices continue, households have reduced their consumption of goods, mainly on non-essential goods such as clothing spending.

On the other hand, spending on living-essential housing and water and heat rose 12.6% in a year, while spending on food and non-alcoholic beverages also rose 0.6%.
