Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon said, "We will ask the central government to designate a special disaster zone" in connection with heavy snow damage in southern Gyeonggi Province.
Governor Kim visited the greenhouse collapse in Jinwi-myeon, Pyeongtaek-si, and the factory and livestock facilities in Bogae-myeon, Anseong-si, and said he would propose the government to designate a special disaster zone along with three cities, Pyeongtaek-si, Anseong-si, and Yongin-si, which suffered heavy snow.
Habuk-ri, Jinwi-myeon, Pyeongtaek-si, suffered 113 damage due to heavy snow, and the area of damage was tentatively estimated at 226,000 square meters, including greenhouses and agricultural warehouses.
The total amount of heavy snow damage in Pyeongtaek City was more than 50 billion won, including 29.9 billion won in the agricultural sector and 23.8 billion won in the livestock sector, and the amount of damage is expected to increase further.
Anseong City has tentatively estimated the amount of heavy snow damage at 35 billion won.
In Yongin City, 303 greenhouses, 883 farms, and 77 farms, 162 farms, were damaged.
If it is declared as a special disaster area, the national treasury will provide 50-80% of the cost of local damage recovery, depending on the degree of financial independence of the local government.
Earlier on the 29th of last month, Gyeonggi Province decided to provide 30.15 billion won in emergency financial support for snow removal, emergency recovery, and financial support for victims and small business owners.
