Kim Tae-kyu, acting chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, expressed concern about the progress of the revision of the bill, which includes the combined collection of KBS license fees.Acting President Kim

said today (2nd) that careful discussion is needed after the relevant amendment was approved at the plenary session of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee.

He then said that introducing the combined collection again at a time when KBS license fee separation has not been implemented, could reduce government policy credibility and cause confusion among the people.

The separate collection of license fees was carried out to quickly resolve public inconveniences caused by not knowing exactly the amount of license fees and whether they were paid, he said, adding that he asked for special attention and help to ensure deep discussions take place during the rest of the legislation.

KBS commissioned Korea Electric Power Corp. to collect license fees from 1994 to this year, but separate collections were implemented this year due to the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Broadcasting Act.
