Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, will hold a press conference yesterday (14th) as the president of Yoon Suk Yeol has been suspended due to the passage of the impeachment bill by the National Assembly.

Representative Lee is expected to make an effort to overcome the current crisis facing our society along with his willingness to cooperate to stabilize the state.

Let's connect it to the site and watch it together.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
It was possible because you were there. Thank you.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to some members of the National Assembly who courageously stood on the side of the people and justice despite the party's argument to defy the people and history.

Machiavelli said that all meaningful things in the world were done in danger.

The crisis we face today will make tomorrow's great Republic of Korea.

The passion of the Korean people will make a new history of the Republic of Korea.

The revolution of light following the candlelight revolution will inform the world of the strong resilience of democracy and the greatness of the Korean people.

It's only one point over. The crisis is not over. We have a mountain of challenges to solve.

The year-end special has disappeared and the daily lives of the people have stopped.

The risks in financial markets amplified by uncertainty are currently ongoing. The international community's credibility has fallen due to the diplomatic vacuum.

The mobilization of civil war has dealt a serious blow to defense and security.

Normalization of the Republic of Korea is urgently needed.

I propose the formation of a bipartisan cooperation for normalization of state affairs and a national stability consultative body with the National Assembly and the government.

Our Democratic Party will actively cooperate with all political parties to stabilize state affairs and restore international trust.

We will make sure that the National Assembly and the government can quickly end the crisis that has struck the entire Republic of Korea.

The current crisis is not fundamental or structural.

It's superficial and transitory, like a storm on a haughty river.

This crisis must be overcome and will be overcome again as it has been.

Our people have the capacity to turn anxiety into hope.

With a stable market economy system and economic fundamentals, we have sufficient resilience.

Korea's market economy system and economic authorities, which have built the world's top 10 economic power, are sufficient.

Financial and foreign exchange management authorities should operate the 24-hour monitoring system thoroughly. More than ever, the active and active role of the government is needed.

The Democratic Party of Korea, the largest party in the National Assembly, will also spare bipartisan cooperation to resolve economic instability, such as market stabilization and investment protection measures.

We will support industrial policies and trade diplomacy strategies that protect our technology and industry and grow growth engines in all directions.

We will also thoroughly legislate to open the door to the sluggish people's livelihood economy and restore the people's livelihood.

We need to fill the confusing diplomatic and security vacuum. Multilateral efforts are needed to restore the interrupted dialogue and cooperation with the international community.

The alliance between South Korea and the U.S. will be firmly maintained and further expanded.

Just as we created today's Republic of Korea with the help of the liberal democratic camp, we will faithfully fulfill our responsibilities and roles as members of the liberal democratic camp.

Cooperation with neighboring countries on the Korean Peninsula for stability in Northeast Asia and world peace will also remain unchanged.

Together, the government and the National Assembly must protect the basics of diplomacy and security of the Republic of Korea, which is the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula.

My fellow citizens, we have all come out to the square to protect the Republic of Korea.

We have joined forces to set the values of freedom, equality, peace, human rights, and solidarity that have lost their power to protect the Constitution of the Republic of Korea.

The anti-democratic tyranny in front of a united people has lost its power and the Republic of Korea is able to move forward again.

The value of the Democratic Republican Party shouted in the square helped us open a new era.

Now, with the great bulwark of democracy, I will stop the wind of crisis that blew through the Republic of Korea.

The Constitutional Court should expedite the process of dismissing President Yoon Suk Yeol.

That's the only way to minimize the nation's chaos to the people's suffering.

In order to hold the absurd responsibility for this incident and prevent it from happening again, it should be clear that the truth and responsibility are to be found.

Investigation agencies such as the Joint Investigation Headquarters should reveal the truth quickly, strictly, and through investigations. A quick launch of an independent counsel is needed to find out the truth.

Insurrection-related agencies and participants should actively cooperate in the investigation.

Don't forget that the whole nation is watching. The Democratic Party of Korea will launch a special committee to stabilize state affairs and overcome civil war to resolve the confusion and make all-out efforts to recover the Republic of Korea. Dear people, the Democratic Party will do its job without shaking like a rock.

We will do our best to heal the damaged pride and wounds of the people. The politics that lost

will be reborn as politics toward the people.

The precious value lost will shine again in the name of the Republic of Korea.

Today, which is made with the people, will be the beginning of a new harmony.

The way we go will be the future of the Republic of Korea. The Republic of Korea is a democratic republic. The people are the nation.

Our Republic of Korea is one. Thank you.

Thank you. Next, we will listen to questions from journalists and give you responses related to it. Please use the microphone on this side and deliver the microphone on the other side. Please pass it over there.

CEO, I'm Kim Sang-min from SBS. Today, the National Security Council proposed it, and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo is acting as the acting president. However, I understand that there are still some people in the party talking about the impeachment of Acting President Han Deok-soo, but I would like to ask if the CEO's proposal to propose a national security consultative body today and to settle the confusion as a party is now okay to read it with this will and not consider the impeachment of Acting President Han Deok-soo.

Therefore, I would like to hear from the representative because there are concerns about whether acting representative Han Deok-soo will judge by exercising his veto power or exercising such authority in the future, and whether this uncertainty is also a factor in state administration instability.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
It is true that there are quite a few arguments within the party that Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, now the acting president, should be impeached by holding him responsible for the civil war or the existing state affairs. However, as it stands now, the prime minister has already been confirmed as acting president and too many impeachment may cause some confusion in the state affairs, so we decided not to go through the impeachment process for now. I talked to our prime minister on the phone yesterday.

I talked to him on the phone, and I said that now, not the prime minister nominated by the ruling party, but that the government should conduct state affairs in a neutral manner regardless of the ruling and opposition parties, and the prime minister readily agreed. The veto will be between the ruling and opposition parties, and now between the first and second parties. It can be a political bias to reject either party because it reflects the difference in policy or political positions between the first and second parties. I also said
. We will continue to make judgments and decisions according to laws and principles, and the changed environment from the perspective of the people and the country.

I'm Park Jun-gyu of Hankook Ilbo. The Constitutional Court trial has not even begun, so it may be a little early, but according to the Democratic Party, the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol should be cited and dismissed, and then the early presidential election will begin and the CEO will be a strong presidential candidate. However, there seems to be some anxiety about whether the public can still accept you as a national leader, with various polls consistently showing high unfavorable ratings and judicial risks. I'd like to ask you if you're feeling this anxiety, if you think it's a little exaggerated, or if you have anything you want to say to the public about this anxiety.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
Right now, the crisis phase of the Republic of Korea is underway, and we must focus only on how to overcome this crisis. Also, since the result is unknown, it seems inappropriate to predict any outcome and talk about it, so I will postpone it to the next time.

[Reporter]
I'm Choi Ki-chang, a reporter for the electronic newspaper. Everything should be back to normal now. The economy and people's livelihoods are expected to take time to recover. As such, policies such as short-term prescriptions are also needed, so please explain whether you have any specific thoughts on the economy and people's livelihood recovery policies as a short-term strategy.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
Korea is in a state of chaos right now. And the impeachment vote did not resolve or ease this mess, but opened the door to greater confusion and conflict. The only way to overcome this chaos and instability is a speedy impeachment trial. This insurrection, a civil war in which the Chief Executive tried to destroy the national constitutional order with military force to maintain or strengthen his power, which is impossible for all Koreans, is truly unconvincing to anyone around the world.

Overcoming this mess is the most urgent task right now. It's urgent. Judgment and determination should be accelerated, even for just one day, even for one hour, one minute, and one second. Stabilization of state affairs and restoration of people's livelihoods will be the biggest practical tasks. As I said, I believe in the capacity of the Korean market economy system and the government. The government's system and capabilities are stronger and more competent than we think.

But today's crisis came because the chief executive, who is in charge of it, did not acknowledge their expertise and ability and blocked the autonomous, active and active efforts themselves. As I said, we will hold policy consultations on finance, economy, and people's livelihoods through the formation of a national stability consultative body to stabilize state affairs. What needs to be done right now is, as everyone acknowledges, a slump in consumption due to a lack of domestic demand and a reduction in the government's fiscal role. In order to solve this problem, I think it is necessary to discuss the supplementary budget quickly.

[Reporter]
Hello, I'm Choi Ah-young of Financial News. You just talked about the extra budget, but I wonder what you're thinking about specifically if you do the extra budget.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
If we make an extra budget now, there will be various budgets for local currency or AI-related budgets to support the economy of ordinary people that the government has severely reduced or eliminated, or infrastructure investment budgets to secure electricity.

[Reporter]
Hello, CEO. I'm reporter Lee Seungwoo of The Dong-A Ilbo. You've worked hard every day for impeachment. Eight years ago, President Park Geun Hye said he was sorry after being confused by virtue and disloyalty, but President Yoon Suk Yeol said he would not give up this time, and there was no apology or expression of remorse. As you said after the passing of the impeachment bill, the political turmoil will continue, but do you have in mind the possibility that the Constitutional Court will decide to dismiss the president? And I wonder how to catch the political turmoil that is likely to be prolonged in addition to the confusion of people's livelihoods.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
First of all, I forgot for a moment, but I sincerely thank our journalists for their quick reporting, accurate reporting, and physical deterrence activities in the process of overcoming the civil war. There are many comparisons between Gwangju in May 18 and 1980 and this light revolution process, but the biggest difference among them is that information was quickly delivered to our people, and there was a great effort by our journalists, and I would like to express my deep gratitude. As I said, the door to greater confusion has now opened again. President Yoon Suk Yeol's attitude is the reason why I said that even though I went over one small mountain, there is a bigger mountain waiting. He is not aware of his fault at all. It seems to me that they don't know, but they don't pretend they don't know. There is no fault of his own. The people misunderstood. I will fight to the end thinking it was caused by someone's incitement. I think they're asking us to fight together.

In the end, this seems to be no different from inciting conflict among the people, and the resulting confusion and conflict confrontation will be amplified and continued for a considerable period of time. It is a pity that the Korean people who want to normalize the Republic of Korea are forced to fight together against this injustice. And in the end, I think that the will of the people will be carried out according to the principle of national sovereignty, which is the basic value of a democratic republic, in a world that an overwhelming majority of the people want. Active efforts are needed to minimize confusion and to minimize the period of confusion, and our Democratic Party will do its best. I don't think it's up to me to predict the outcome of the sentence.

I believe that an independent constitutional court will judge according to the principles of the Constitution, the will of the people, the truth, and justice. I wouldn't have done it if it was going to be dismissed. If you expected it to be dismissed. There will be more confusion and headwinds. However, the law is the minimum of common sense among the people. It's the law that common sense is minimized. It is the law that our people think with sound common sense, "Oh, this is right." And that's what the law should do. The law is not professional and unknowable to the average person, but the common sense that ordinary people think is the law and it is the role of the Constitutional Court or the court to implement the law, so I think the results are bound to be consistent with the common sense of the people.

[Reporter]
CEO, I'm reporter Lee Seung-eun of Cookie News. Last time, the government proposed the formation of an emergency economic inspection meeting between the ruling and opposition parties, but in fact, the government responded, but the ruling party did not respond, so the Democratic Party launched it alone. However, I wonder if the government and the Democratic Party of Korea will do it first, or persuade the ruling party, and how the National Security Council will do it.

[Lee Jae Myung / Minjoo Party leader]
It's not the ruling party anymore. the power of the people I hope the ruling party and the opposition party don't do it anymore. The ruling party is gone. There is no opposition. I think the position of the people's power will change. It actually has to be like that. Previously, a member of the People's Power was exercising administrative power as the president of the Republic of Korea, but now the president is suspended from his duties. Suspension of duty is not some kind of proxy system, it's just like the president is gone. Since the president is gone, he replaces the president's authority in the order set by the Constitution and the order set by the law.

Now we're back to a more neutral state. Previously, he made political judgments to protect his president, but now as a member of the National Assembly and a second party, I don't think there is any reason not to cooperate with the big common goal of stabilizing state affairs and restoring people's livelihoods. If you don't cooperate, there's no reason for existence as a political party. I expect you to participate.

And beyond checking the state administration, we must now discuss practical measures for stability. In the Republic of Korea, a sovereign nation of the people, the only power institution directly elected and delegated by the people is the National Assembly. Since the head of the presidential administration has been suspended, it is time for the National Assembly to actually fulfill its responsibilities entrusted to the people, and of course, the National Assembly has to adjust the state affairs of the Republic of Korea from the front, so I ask for the active participation of the people. I hope you won't be swept away by a big wave of history while making small gains.
