Representative Lee Jae-myung again urged the Constitutional Court to quickly conclude the impeachment trial of President Yoon.

Some interpret that he may be in a race to speed up the early presidential election amid his "judicial risk," but he also mentioned the presumption of innocence over his own trial.

At a press conference held a day after the impeachment of President Yoon, Lee Jae-myung called on the Constitutional Court to expedite the process of removing President Yoon.

The only way to minimize national confusion is that representative Lee has been in the same position since the impeachment was passed.

[Lee Jae-myung / Minjoo Party Leader: I believe that the judgment will be made based on the principles of the Constitution, the will of the people, and the truth and justice. I wouldn't have done it. If you expected it to be dismissed....]

If the president is fired, the president must hold a presidential election within 60 days, and some analysts say that representative Lee has his "judicial risk" in mind.

This is because early presidential election is advantageous for representative Lee as there is no obstacle to running for president unless the final conclusion of representative Lee's trial comes out to the Supreme Court.

Lee, who was already sentenced to 10 years of deprivation of his right to run for election in the first trial of the Public Official Election Act, said this when asked if he would run for president if he was found guilty in the second trial.

[Lee Jae-myung / Democratic Party leader: Many people agree that the indictment itself is very political and inconsistent with common sense. Our Constitution adopts a very clear principle called the presumption of innocence.

At the same time, he only expressed his fundamental position to faithfully implement the political schedule in accordance with laws and principles.

Right now, there have been calls from political circles to insist that his trial come to a quick conclusion in accordance with the "Enforcement Regulations of the Public Official Election Act" as representative Lee urged the Constitutional Court.

Asked more directly if he has an early presidential election in mind, Lee declined to say, "Now is the time to focus on overcoming the Korean crisis."

Although he is solidifying his position as a strong presidential candidate, the timing and results of the second trial still remain a variable in the presidential race.
